3 Lucies! ..International Photography Awards Honorable Mentions

Hello out there!  I’m honored to say that my work received 3 Honorable Mentions at the 2012 IPA Lucie Awards!  This includes 2 series and 1 singular image…Here is the series “Trail of the Fallen Warrior”

This series “First Day” is a compilation of iPhone composite images…

And this singular image was taken in Inner Mongolia, China, while a visiting artist there in January, 2011…it portrays the eastern edge of the Gobi desert with the smokestacks of Erdos in the background.

DISPARATE things, same place

I met a fellow photographer late yesterday at a reclaimed gravel mining operation now turned wetlands.  Interestingly, this wetlands area is right next to a gravel mining plant.  I chose two images to convey this disparity.  They include two of my favorite subject matters: nature study and industry.

On reflection, I will note that the land was there first (no kidding!), then it was mined, then it was “reclaimed”, and turned into wetlands.  It is now called “Walden Ponds” (another no kidding!).  Again, Colorado, the land of contrasts.
